Parkhead is the former station master's house which has been sympathetically restored by owners Terry and Lorraine Turnbull to provide BB Tea Rooms with added attractions such as a Photographic/Art Gallery, Artwork ,railway memorabilia (kindly donated to Parkhead from numerous customers/visitors) also artefacts to test your knowledge. Parkhead Station once described as 'an extraordinary and disagreeable Dales relic' in 1998 before restoration but present day descriptions by visitors include terms as 'an oasis of the moor', 'haven' and 'sanctuary' with many clients returning to Parkhead regularly. Standing approx.1500 feet above sea level in the Northern Pennines (designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) Parkhead Station marks the 100 mile point on the renowned C2C long distance cycle route on the traffic free section of the Waskerly Way and down hill to the coast! Parkhead is ideal base if you wish to take some time to visit the many other attractions Wear Valley have to offer: Killhope Lead Mines, Dales Centre, Stanhope Village and numerous long/short walking routes. Durham area: Beamish Open Air Museum, Tanfield Railway, Durham City and Newcastle City. 2. Eastcroft Cottage Stanhope (Durham)

Eastcroft in Stanhope is a charming miner’s cottage renovated to a high standard to include central heating and modern appliances and yet still retains its old country charm and home from home appeal. Care has been taken to ensure that Eastcroft provides its guests with the perfect setting to relax and get away from the pressures of life, maximum relaxation with minimum fuss! Set in the heart of the village of Stanhope it is an ideal place to return to after a day exploring the surrounding moors and waterfalls of the Durham Dales. The cottage is within walking distance of local amenities including the shops, pubs, church, tourist information centre, the stepping stones over the River Wear and children’s play areas. Roadside parking is available at the front of the cottage in a quiet cul-de-sac. The cottage has an extensive collection of interesting books, maps and information about the local area, which you are welcome to read during your stay. Accommodation is for 4 to 6 people, comprising; living room, kitchen/dining room, two bedrooms and a bathroom. There is a small walled courtyard at the back with an additional toilet. Master bedroom: a spacious and comfortable room with a double bed, single bed and cot, sleeping a family of two to four people comfortably. Ample storage, a telephone, colour TV and video. Second bedroom: full size bunk bed with single top and double bottom beds, providing sleeping for a family of 3. Disabled guests are welcome. Children welcome. Hotel Rating: Visit Britain 3 star
