Oak River Holiday Homes comprises two properties; Oak River Cottage which is sub-divided into 2 private apartments, and a recently restored 3-storey,Grade 2 listed structure known as the 'The Old Cart Shed'. They are located in a placid setting on the banks of the River Derwent on the edge of the historic sword making town of Shotley Bridge in County Durham. The properties can accommodate from 4 - 6 people and are furnished to a very high, comfortable standard. They are located within 2 minutes walking distance of local shops and amenites (including 2 pubs) but only 10 minutes away from the beautiful North Pennines, an area accorded a place of Outstanding Natural Beauty by the British Tourist Authority. Oak River Cottage is a South facing property comprising two 2-bedroom apartments which can comfortably accommodate 4 and 6 persons respectively. The tastefully furnished apartments have their own private entrances and comprise of 2 double bedrooms (one en-suite), a lounge diner, kitchen, bathroom and toilet and garage parking to the rear. A unique property and a piece of local history. The Old Cart Shed is a restored 17th Century Grade II listed building which has been converted to living accommodation and comprises a lounge, 2 bedrooms, bathroom and toilet and a kitchen diner. It is currently undergoing fitting and furnishing and will be available for rental in June 2009. Shotley Bridge is centrally located and the many of the North East's tourist attractions are within a short driving distance. From shopping at the Gateshead Metro centre (one of the largest malls in the UK) to hill walking in the North Pennines to visiting the Beamish Open Air Museaum plus much more, are all within easy reach. The cottages are open all year round and as we have only just opened for business, there are plenty of slots available for bookings.
