The Ancient Guest House Hotel is a family run, 2 star, Grade II listed building set on Wells Cathedral Green, facing the cathedral’s beautiful West Front. It was built in the 15th Century and has been run by the same family for the last 35 years. Ideally located in the centre of Wells, we are a short stroll from Bishop’s Palace, the moat and Vicar’s Close, said to be the oldest inhabited street in Europe. We are also only 5-10 minutes drive from a number of walks on The Mendips. Clarks factory outlet village is just 1—15 minutes drive and we are also only 2 miles from Wookey Hole Caves and 9 miles from Cheddar Gorge. Our acclaimed bedrooms are all individually decorated whilst still featuring some of the more interesting historical features of the building. Modern necessities such as hairdryers, LCD televisions, tea/coffee making facilities, and telephone with modem come as standard in the rooms. There is Wi-Fi access in some rooms and all communal areas.
