1. Dundonnell Hotel Ullapool

Address: Dundonnell, Little Loch Broom, Ullapool, United Kingdom

The Dundonnell Hotel was originally an old inn of 4 bedrooms accommodating the occasional traveller to Wester Ross. Situated just a short drive from the increasingly popular town of Ullapool, the hotel now has 32 bedrooms and enjoys an enviable reputation for fine food, superior accommodation and Highland hospitality - the vital ingredients for a truly memorable holiday. The lounge offers comfortable surroundings in which to relax, read or enjoy the delicious teas with home baking. Naturally as Scotland is the home of Whisky they have a good selection of single malts in their two well stocked bars. The Cocktail Bar provides a quiet retreat for a pre-dinner aperitif whilst the Broom Beg Bar is the 'local' offering a wide range of beers etc and casual dining from their extensive menu. The recently refurbished Claymore Restaurant offers an A La Carte menu during the high season from May through September and a Table D Hote menu offering a shortened selection from the A La Carte menu during the months of October, March and April. The hotel prides itself on utilising the best of Scottish produce to create a mix of familiar Highland dishes and some of the best that modern culinary creativity has to offer. Their excellent home baked shortbread, pancakes and scones can be enjoyed all year round. Dundonnell has the advantage of a fine location - it shelters beneath the massive mountain range of An Teallach and has superb views down Little Loch Broom and provides an ideal base from which to explore. As well as enjoying the scenery there are a variety of outdoor pursuits - bird watching, fishing, photography to name but a few.

2. Summer Isles Hotel Ullapool

Address: Achiltibuie, Ullapool, United Kingdom

The Summer Isles Hotel has established itself as an oasis of civilisation hidden away in a stunningly beautiful, but still wild and untouched landscape. The hotel has become a favourite destination for food lovers, outdoor adventurers and for those looking for peace, tranquility and fresh air. Incredible dishes from outstanding quality produce combine with friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere to create a magical experience at this remote but famous hotel (which looks out over the islands after which it's named) Harden's UK Restaurants Guide. We like guests who can make the most of this beautiful wilderness of islands and mountains. Bring your Wellingtons, sensible shoes, bring your dog if you like- so long as he does not appear in the dining room or lounge - and sunglasses and midge cream, cameras, paint boxes, binoculars, thermos flasks and comfortable old clothes, bring your bicycles or kayaks if you have them. We have the Gulf Stream at the foot of the croft, but the weather can be anything from Arctic to Aegean inside a week. The Summer Isles Hotel has a wide range of accommodation on offer from cosy log cabin rooms to luxurious suites. All rooms are ensuite and are designed in a contemporary, uncluttered style.
