Y Talbot is a Grade 2 Listed Inn with a long tradition of providing excellent food, accomodation and hospitality. Under new family ownership since 2010 the property is being sensitively restored to provide high quality accomodation and to further enhance the characterful pub, lounge and restaurant areas. We are in the process of modernising all our bedrooms and hope to be complete by late 2012. Our new rooms are designed to a minimum four star Inn standard and offer the best possible comfort to guests. Two of our new rooms are already available and have received very good feedback from our guests. Excellent food is also central to what we do. Our chef Dafydd Watkin, who is a shareholder in the business, trained with Marco Pierre White before becoming Premier sous chef at the Ritz. Dafydd is passionate about food and uses the highest quality ingredients (locally sourced wherever possible) to create our contemporary Welsh menu. We strongly believe in local provenance and we don't just restrict that to the excellent meat, fish, and fresh food that can be sourced within 20 miles, we also source our excellent cask ales from Wales and the borders. We are also proud of the rich Welsh tradition of the area, most of our staff are Welsh speaking and live locally in Tregaron, wherever our guests are from they will receive a warm Croeso. Tregaron enjoys a splendid, rural location at the foot of the Cambrian mountains which stretch eastwards for over 20 miles - few quieter places will be found in Wales. For outdoor enthusiasts there is much to offer, excellent walking can be had from the back door of Y Talbot as well as superb cycling, off and on road, fishing and riding. For lovers of history and culture there are numerous attraction s within close proximity, from early Christian churches and Strata Florida Cistercian abbey to Devils bridge and the Hafod estate.
