1. Ry Park Hotel

Address: Kyhnsvej 2, Ry, Denmark

The hotel has a total of 76 well-furnished rooms with bath and TV. In addition there is an indoor swimming pool and sauna- billiard- dart and free wireless Internet. Outside the hotel there is a playground. Free livery of 3 canoes. Weekend stays- gourmet stays- golf holidays and mini holidays. Direct train connection to Aarhus. When the railway between Skanderborg and Silkeborg opened in 187 Ry was one of the places where the train stopped - and this was the reason why a grocery store with an adjoining inn was established here. The first guests were the workmen who built the railway - and that was even before the landlord had obtained his license. Already in 1894 the inn burnt down and the inhabitants of the town had a field day when saving the many wine bottles and barrels with rum and cognac which were stored in the cellar. The end of the story was that a new and up-to-date inn was built - and Ry got its first temperance society. To this very day the inn has been situated in the middle of Ry and with the Mid-Jutland lake highland in the backyard. No matter whether you come to Ry as a holiday guest or in order to participate in a meeting or a conference you cannot help delighting in the fantastic scenery along the river Gudenaaen and the impressing lakes encircled by immemorial beech trees. In the distance you get a glimpse of Himmelbjerget and from May to September the boats from Ry Turistbaade sail to and from Himmelbjerget several times every day. And if you prefer to sail on your own the hotel has 3 canoes which are at guests free disposal. The cafe and the restaurant of the hotel is called Le Saison and here the staff is ready to welcome you - no matter whether you wish to have a cup of excellent coffee- bring your friends for a delicious brunch- have lunch with your business associates or explore the evening menu. The cuisine of the hotel favors both tradition and innovation and according to season the chef chooses the ingredients with great cares.

2. Gl Rye Kro

Address: Ryesgade 8, Ry, Denmark

The rooms are situated in a new wing and they all have bath- toilet and colour TV. There are also in-door swimming pool- solarium and fitness room. There are also lovely sitting rooms with TV and video in the inn itself and two restaurants with a large menu. The location in the lake highlands invites to excursions to Silkeborg and to the magnificent nature on and near-by the 147 m high hill Himmelbjerg. Jutlands largest lake Mossoe has a rich bird and fish life and thus there are fine possibilities of fishing but also of cycling and hiking following the signposted paths in the wood and along the lake. Gl. Rye was once an important town in Denmark. In the Middle Ages it was a centre for culture and politics in Denmark. It was here in the church Skt. Soerens Kirke that Denmarks nobility and clergy met in 1534 to crown the new king - King Christian the 3rd. Only a section of the impressive church is left today because parts of the nave and the original tower were torn down after the Reformation. The present tower dates from 1912 but it stands at exactly the same spot as the old tower - therefore it looks as if it is almost straggling out from the rest of the church. There has probably also been an inn here in the 1500s but the present inn can only be traced back to approximately 400 years ago. The inn has been restored with a gentle touch and today it appears with all modern conveniences without damaging the old atmosphere. The whole area is rich in historic relics and at the same time we are close to the hill Himmelbjerget in the mid-Jutland lake highlands which impressed the Danish author Hans Christian Andersen very much when he was on his great Jutland tour in 1859. He called the area - the highlands with forest solitude. Besides the church in Gl. Rye - you should also visit the mill Gl. Rye Moelle with its small wooden shoe museum. From the mill there are footpaths to the hills Galgebakken and Skovsbjerg and to the mill Klostermoelle at the river Gudenaa.
