It is five kilometres away from Lisbon and there are trains and coaches to Lisbon just ten minutes walk away. The cozinha velha restaurant is installed in the old kitchen of the Palace which at one time served the royal court. Many of the features of that time have been maintained with large fire and roasting spit and copper pots. This is an l-shaped, pink and white, typical 18th century palatial building. It has its own courtyard to the rear. The medium-sized lobby is bright, airy and welcoming with cream marble throughout. It leads into the lounge and breakfast room.
