What better place to begin to explore Newbiggin than from this magnificent Church in the Sea, surrounded on three sides by the ocean dominating the most easterly part of the village and a familiar landmark for fishermen and sailors. The Church was estimated to have been built almost 800 years ago. Today the church still maintains vigil over the bay with the waves dashing againt the point only yards from the church door. Walking away from the Church you will come to the new childrens playground that was part of the reclamation projects staged in the UK when £10 million was spent with the new breakwater and the first ever permanent offshore sculpures comprising of two five metre tall bronze figures a man and a woman. Newbiggin by the Sea is a great place to base yourself whilst discovering the delights of Northumberland and the Borders. The Captain's Lodge enjoys a glorious position with superb views over Newbiggin Bay and Church Point. We have a family en-suite bedroom with a four poster bed and a single bed.
