We are less than 2.5 miles from the pretty market town of Ilminster, very close to the A303 with good access to the A358 and the M5. Perhaps you are en route to Cornwall and want to break your journey? You may be in the area on a business trip or just want to discover the joys of Somerset . . . whatever your reason you are welcome here. The original slightlychaotic suite, a magical bedroom upstairs (king size bed and ensuite shower) and your own breakfastsitting room below, you can luxuriate in comfort and privacy. Wander through your french windows onto the sunny south-facing terrace where breakfast can be taken. There is a riding stable on our doorstep and Ilminster has a beautiful church, a thriving Arts Centre and regular local produce and craft markets. A short drive takes you to Castle Neroche, run by the forestry commission and always beautiful with its miles of forest trails, huge beech hangers, veritable oceans of bluebells and acres of stately foxgloves. Equally close to home are enchanting National Trust gardens at Barrington Court and East Lambrook Manor, an evocative Cider Distillery at Burrow Hill with resident pig and John Leach's famous Muchelney Pottery and Gallery. Nearby Dillington House offers interesting courses, concerts and lectures. Forde Abbey, a former Cistercian monastery, makes for a lovely day out as does the wildlife park at Cricket St Thomas where you can wander through the woods with the Lemurs. You may like to try out Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall's River Cottage Canteen in Axminster, (River Cottage HQ runs cookery day courses) - all within half an hour of slightlychaotic BandB.

The Duke of York is ideally located in the beautiful Somerset village of Shepton Beauchamp, this 17th Century, grade 2 Listed Building lies within a Conservation Area and has been owned by Hayley Paul since April 2002 and is one of only 6% of pubs in Britain that is a true Free house. The Duke of York Inn is CAMRA recommended for the quality of its Beer having been in the Good Beer Guide for the past four years (only 4500 pubs out of 60,000 make this publication) as well as a selection of great real ales we also have local ciders and an excellent range of wines. The facility comprises four newly built Letting Rooms and one self contained studio flat. All rooms are en-suite. If you are looking for that special night or weekend we have our luxury suite which has a Jacuzzi and a four poster bed or if you want self catering we have a self contained room with brand new kitchen facilities. If your business needs to provide overnight stays for clients or staff, then we're perfect for that also with free WIFI.A stay here also provides the perfect excuse to sample food from our Head Chef who is widely recognised as one of the most accomplished chefs in the area, known for her use of freshly bought, local ingredients. Woodleigh Bed and Breakfast is a beautiful Victorian house built in 1895 that has been imaginatively refurbished to a high standard whilst retaining its original charm. Our garden is open to all visitors to enjoy. Ilminster is ideally situated close to many National Trust properties and areas of natural beauty. These include Barrington Court, Montacute House, Forde Abbey and the Blackdown Hills. We are also only 18 miles from the Jurassic coast. Ilminster takes its name from the River Ile and the Minster church dating from 1450. The town grew up around the church and some of the oldest buildings are close to the churchyard including the grammar school founded in 1549. In Victorian times the town was an important staging post for travellers with east-west and north-south routes converging there. Market Square has a colonnaded market cross rebuilt in 1813 and is surrounded by handsome buildings. Having lived and worked in the area for most of our lives we have a good local knowledge and are always pleased to share some of this with residents. From mystical Glastonbury Tor, historical Wells, and castles in Dunster and Taunton. Manor houses such as Tyntesfield, Montacute or Barrington Court - to a day's discovery at The Fleet Air Arm Museum or adventure at Cheddar Caves and Gorge, you will never be wondering what to do in Somerset. Breakfast is served in our dining room between 8.00 and 10.00 am and is included in the price of the room. A good choice is available including a full West Country cooked breakfast using local, free range produce. Our new conservatory is available for residents to rest and enjoy the view.
