The Lamb began trading as a public house probably as early as the 12th Century. By 1870 it was already well established as a coaching inn that supplied 300 post horses for coaches going to and from London and the West Country. To this day the building retains plenty of its original character and features including inglenook fireplaces, flag stone floors and heavy wooden beams. Inside you will find the Dining Room, the Bar, the Sitting Room and the Meeting Room as well as nineteen individually furnished bedrooms. Outside you'll find our heated, covered terrace where you can enjoy a fine Havana cigar or one of our 200 single malt whiskies, regardless of the weather. The Old Rectory is a the former residence of the Rector of the Parish of Chicklade and Hindon offering a warm welcome and friendly service in lovely surroundings and at an affordable price including a delicious breakfast. We offer free Wifi access and parking. We are a completely non smoking residence. Lynda & Colin, the present owners, purchased the Old Rectory in 2010 and have a full refurbishment programme in place during 2010/2011 so that they are able to offer modern facilities whilst retaining the character of the house. The planned work will cause no disturbance to residents as Lynda and Colin are fully aware of the need for all guests to have a relaxing break during their stay. The Old Rectory is conveniently situated on the main A303 which offers an ideal location to break your journey while travelling to and from the West Country. It also offers a great location within the beautiful Wiltshire's countryside to visit many local attractions.
