Situated on the edge of the Northumberland National Park, it makes an ideal base for walking, cycling, exploring Hadrian's Wall or simply relaxing whilst ovelooking the wild open countryside. Ald White Craig Farm's central location is perfect for day trips to the Scottish Borders, Newcastle, Carlisle, the Northern Lakes, and the MetroCentre. All of our accommodation has ample parking, fully equipped kitchen areas, bed linen and hand towels, TV and DVD players, and a communal cleaning store. Pets are welcome, but please let us know before you arrive if you do plan to bring a pet along. Most of our accommodation (excluding the Wren's Nest) have cots and high chairs. All of our accommodation is no smoking. Ald White Craig is the ideal venue for family parties and get-togethers. Come and use our gardens, we will provide an awning and barbecues to make the occasion more special. Ald White Craig has facilities to allow horse lovers to bring their four legged friend with them; stabling and ample space for horse boxes, come and discover the bridle paths in the Northumbrian countryside. Whether you’re looking for a modern farmhouse Bed Breakfast or a traditional self-catering cottage, Kellah provides comfortable accommodation in a peaceful countryside setting. Kellah has been a small hamlet since 1402 and has been farmed by our family for over 160 years. We are a working hill farm, breeding beef cattle and Scottish Blackface sheep. Farmhouse breakfasts using all locally sourced produce including our own free-range eggs, comfortable accommodation, a warm welcome and stunning views of the Northumbrian countryside is our recipe for a relaxing stay at Kellah Bed and Breakfast Accommodation. The five en-suite bedrooms are in a newly refurbished self contained unit that used to be The Pitman’s Arms public house, before it closed in the late 1900’s. Each room is furnished to a high standard in the character of a country farmhouse. A separate bathroom is available for anyone who prefers to soak in the bath after a long day's walking. Water is heated by solar panels and provides plenty of hot water for baths and showers. Farmhouse breakfasts, including a vegetarian option, are served in the double dining room. The large lounge with its black-range fireplaces, TV, DVD and children’s games are available for guests use at any time. Guests can relax outside on the stone flagged patio area. A laundry and boot drying room is available for our guests' convenience, as we are in a fantastic walking Our three 4 star self-catering holiday cottages were previously miner’s smallholdings and still have many of the original features,open fires, beamed ceilings and walled gardens. All 3 cottages have 2 bedrooms sleeping up to 6 people in the largest, all have digital TV, washing machines, electric cookers, microwaves and fridge-freezers. 3. Wydon Farm Bed and Breakfast Haltwhistle

Wydon Farm BB is a working farm based on 366 acres of National Trust Bellister estate. Providing four star accommodation in a luxurious barn conversion, it is the only National Trust bed and breakfast farm in Northumberland. It is located near to Haltwhistle, Hexham, Corbridge, Haydon Bridge and Alston. It has its own pitches on the South Tyne river (one of the best salmon rivers in England) and a bridleway passes though the farm. It is easily accessible by road and the train station under a mile away. There are many of things to do and see. Visit Hadrian’s Wall, important Roman sites of Vindolanda, Housesteads, Birdoswald and Chesters, historic Alnwick Castle and gardens, Kielder Water, Northumberland National Park and beautiful coastline including Holy Island and Farne Islands. A host of sites can be accessed using the award winning Hadrian’s Wall Bus Service, which is less than a mile away. Wydon welcomes all types of guest like cyclists, walkers, families and dog owners. For the cyclist, there is the Hardian’s Wall cycle path and for walkers there is a host of Hadrian’s Wall national trails and shepherds’ walks. The BB has three large en-suite rooms. The four poster room has a whirlpool bath and all rooms come with colour TV, DVD player, tea coffee making facilities, central heating, fridge and clock radio. 4. Manor House Inn Haltwhistle

This old coaching house is filled with character and offers a friendly and comfortable stay. Within walking distance of all shops and amenities in Haltwhistle itself (including an outdoor swimming pool, gym, tennis courts, bowling green and fishing in the nearby River Tyne). Central for transport links, with bus stops directly outside offering regular services to Carlisle, Hexham and Newcastle. The railway station is within 10 minutes walk, again with regular commutes between Carlisle and Newcastle. By car, we are just off the A69 main route from both East (Approx 35miles from A1 Newcastle) and West (Approx 25miles from M6 Carlisle).Whether you're a walker, cyclist, golfer or indeed anyone visiting the many attractions this area has to offer, The Manor House Inn really is a great base from which to explore the region and particularly Hadrians Wall Country. We have 6 clean and comfortable ensuite rooms, 3 of which are traditional to the aspect of the original building and the other 3 have just undergone a complete refurbishment to a very high standard in December 2010, to a more modern day design. All rooms have tea/coffee making facilities, Flat screen Colour TVs, Iron and hairdryer facilities upon request. On the ground floor we have the public bar, lounge and restaurant area. The Bar serves a wide variety of wine, beers, cask ales and spirits, also tea and wide variety of coffees to both residents and passing public. Please Note that this area can be lively at times, especially at weekends. The Lounge area seats approx. 30 persons and serves a varied menu ranging from bar snacks to main meals, including our very popular home-made Sunday Lunches. The restaurant seats approx 36 people and is used as the breakfast area for our residents and for evening meals if a quieter atmosphere is preferred. 5. Saughy Rigg Farm Bed & Breakfast Haltwhistle

Magnificently situated within Northumberland's National Park, Saughy Rigg is within sight (less than 1 mile) of Hadrian's Wall. Wonderful walks begin at our doorstep. Lapwings, Curlew and Skylarks are a common sight in the summer months. There is a comfortable sitting-room for guest use and each room has its own TV and tea/coffee-making facilities. The accommodation is warm and comfortable and guests can relax in the peaceful atmosphere. We have had so many compliments about our meals it would be difficult to list them all. Breakfasts are very generous, and cooked freshly to order (vegetarians or special diets are no problem). We now have a table licence and keep a small selection of wine, beer and lager. Evening meals are 3 courses and we take pride in presenting wholesome freshly-cooked food using local organic fresh produce (we have our own chickens and grow most of our own vegetables).Walkers and cyclists can benefit from our luggage-forwarding service and we can pick up guests from local public transport. Chare Close is situated close to the Haltwhistle burn and gorge providing easy access to the Hadrian's Wall World Heritage site and beyond. Cycle routes for Hadrian's Wall, the Pennine Way, and the new South Tyne Way also run directly past the front door. 7. The Milecastle Inn Hadrians Wall Haltwhistle

The Milecastle Inn is located in one of the most important areas along the Roman Wall. There are more sites of Roman camps in the fields around us than anywhere else on the Wall. It was here the Stanegate, the earlier Roman road, that ran from Corstopitum to Luguvallium (Corbridge to Carlisle) was closest to the construction site of the Wall. Visitors can use the cottages as a base whilst walking the length of Hadrian’s Wall (in stages of course) or alternatively keen cyclists can join the new Hadrian’s Wall Cycle Route which follows the wall for 174 miles and runs past the cottages. Salmon fishing can be enjoyed along a 10 mile stretch of the River Tyne near the small market town of Haltwhistle which is famously known as the “Centre of Britain”.During the holiday season there is an open air swimming pool with a gymnasium,squash court and other leisure facilities in Haltwhistle. Milecastle Cottages are ideally situated for those wishing to enjoy a golfing holiday with a number of quality courses within a 20 mile radius Carlisle, Brampton, Hexham, Matfen Hall and Slaley Hall to name but a few. The cottages are ideal to use as a base if you wish to visit some of our beautiful heritage landmarks, Hexham Abbey, Carlisle Castle, Tullie House Carlisle. Also Beamish Museum is a fantastic open air mining village with old shops,dentist, pit houses and a mine you can walk down. Newcastle Has a number of museums,a lovely quayside which runs along the Tyne. There is a large indoor shopping centre known as the Metro. All these are within a 40 mile radius. Glendale Mews and Glendale cottage are situated in the estate grounds of Glendale; an early nineteenth century farm house on the edge of Northumbria National Park, just outside of Haltwhistle. It is easily found on the B6318 (North Road) known locally as the Military Road as it was constructed around 1750 by General Wade during the Jacobite Rebellion. The Military Road closely follows the route of an earlier Roman road, the original course of which runs directly through the Glendale Estate. Glendale Mews is a converted stable on the main courtyard, with ample space for car parking, horse box and dry cycle storage. Glendale Cottage consists of three bedrooms, is fully self contained and has a host of features to provide a comfortable and enjoyable place to stay. Ideally placed for easy access to local Roman remains, walking Hadrian's Wall, visiting the Lake District and Scotland or shopping in Gateshead's Metro Centre and Newcastle. Glendale's private, heated indoor swimming pool is open every day except Christmas Day and is available for private hire, the minmum charge is £12:00 per hour of course we hope you enjoy your swim at Glendale. Rowan Cottage is a special place for two people to enjoy a comfortable and relaxing break. It is perfect for a holiday in one of the last undiscovered parts of Northumberland. The landscapes of sweeping hills and breathtaking skies are a magnet to anyone seeking the perfect quietness of the countryside. The region offers a habitat to many species of birds and animals – as well as countless wildflowers and plants. Hadrian's Wall must be crossed to get to Rowan cottage and nearby are many of the most famous Roman sites. Rowan Cottage is a great base from which to explore. Southwest Northumberland gives access to some of the most attractive parts of our region whether you wish to walk, or visit the many attractions of the area. If you want to visit attractions further a field Rowan Cottage is superbly positioned for day visits to Cumbria and the Lake District, Scotland and Durham. The scenic town of Haltwhistle is four miles away, where there are a range of shops, a post office, banks and places to eat and drink. There is a train and bus service. The cottage is supplied with its own spring water and has ample parking. It is double-glazed, has oil central heating and a welcoming open fire. For your entertainment there is a flat screen, digital TV with radio and CD DVD. There is a private landscaped garden to the west of the property, with patio area where you can sit and enjoy the setting sun. The fully equipped kitchen has an electric cooker, microwave, and fridge with freezer compartment, washing machine and dishwasher; as well as an amazing range of small equipment to enable you to cook anything from a simple snack to a gourmet meal.
