1. The Hay Loft Gileston

Address: Rose Cottage, Gileston, United Kingdom

The Hay Loft is designed with relaxation in mind. You will find it nestled within a pretty hamlet on the Vale of Glamorgan coast. Set within the grounds of a historic 17th century thatched cottage you are also only a stone's throw from the beach. Recently converted to a very high standard, this self catering open space offers ample room for up to four friends to share thanks to a mezzanine sleeping area and double sofa bed below. Think exposed stonework and limewashed walls. Freeview television, free wifi, underfloor heating, diningliving area and luxury 'pebble' shower room offer comfort with practicality. The design is inspired by Farrow and Ball colours, our travels in France and complimented by handpicked funky designer furniture and fabrics. If you're looking for something different - off the beaten track, yet within 25 minutes of Cardiff - then you may well have found the perfect escape. A sanctuary which combines the feel of a boutique hotel with the advantage of being able to come and go as you please. Cardiff International Airport is less than 10 minutes away as is the Glamorgan Heritage Coast, Fonmon Castle, Atlantic College and the historic market towns of Cowbridge and Llantwit Major. 2. Rose Cottage

Address: Rose Cottage, Gileston, United Kingdom

Rose Cottage is the quintessential chocolate box 17th century thatched cottage for those in search of a luxury self catering character break on the south Wales coast. Set in its own grounds and within walking distance of the Glamorgan Heritage Coast this character property is close enough to the airport and towns such as Barry, Cowbridge, St Athan and Llantwit Major yet removed enough to feel away from it all at the centre of the historic coastal hamlet of Gileston. It is particularly well positioned for weddings at Fonmon Castle, visiting the school and arts venue at Atlantic College, St Donats or training courses at RAF St Athan. The property is full of character with exposed stone walls and farrow and ball colours. Furnished to a high standard it offers two bedrooms - two doubles - and a luxury shared shower and bathroom. On the ground floor there is a fully fitted kitchen with SMEG range, separate toilet and a spacious lounge area with inglenook fireplace with woodburner. There is a separate dining room with open fireplace and seating for 6 with a french window out onto the sunken patio and garden. The property is centrally heated with a LPG combi boiler.
