The hotel serves excellent home cooked food produced from locally sourced ingredients to give a true taste of Scotland. Meikleour Hotel, outside Blairgowrie has welcomed visitors for nearly 200 years, first established as a Coaching and Posting House, for the Inverness to Edinburgh coaches to change horses and where the passengers could have refreshments. It is set in the peaceful village of Meikleour within a short quiet drive of both Blairgowrie and Perth. This Blairgowrie hotel was used by Meikleour Estate as a lodge for its fishing and shooting guests who came to the area to fish for the King of Fish in one of the world's finest salmon rivers the River Tay. Today it is still popular with country sportsmen and women who travel from a far to enjoy the hotel's comforts, and facilities. The Meikleour Hotel has an excellent reputation for its food, which is endorsed by many locals travelling for meals especially at weekends, whether bar meals or in the restaurant. The Perthshire Advertiser's Lady who Lunches' endorsed this writing: The Ivy-clad Meikleour Hotel is a popular rural hideaway, reminiscent of a classic English country pub, turned out superior bistro-style meals, including fish encased in batter handmade with spring water, or beef pie flavoured with the hotel's own Perth-brewed Lure of Meikleour ale.
