First time visitors to Heron House cannot help but be charmed by this delightful Georgian town house with its beautiful walled garden in the center of the ancient village of Bampton. A quiet ambiance prevails in the interior of the house with an elegant drawing room and cosy dining room furnished with a mix of contemporary and fine antiques and art. The effortlessly chic style continues upstairs, where you will sleep soundly in one of three spacious bedrooms (one with a 4 poster bed) each with their own private or en suite bathroom and where dedication to guests comfort is evident. Your host Fiona, together with her 3 Working Cocker Spaniels (Daisy, Hebe and Coco) offers the friendliest of welcome. Fiona is an accomplished cook and a keen gardener. A visit to the National Trust property of Knightshayes Court and gardens is a must for any entheusiastic gardener staying staying at Heron House and Fiona will recommend other gardens such as Cothay Manor, Rosemoor and Hestercombe amongst others for you to visit during your stay. Bampton is set in the foothills of Exmoor National Park and is 10 minutes from Dulverton, 30 from both North and South Devon beaches and is an ideal base for walking, cycling (southwest Route No. 3 goes past the front door), riding, shooting, wind surfing, surfing, sailing and bird watching. Set yourself up for the day with a scrumptious breakfast using fresh local produce cooked on the Aga and served in the dining room. If you come back wet from a soggy walk we will even dry your clothes! Daisy, Hebe and Coco welcome other smaller well behaved dogs for a small fee.

Here you will find that resident Landlord Ian & the Team, offer you the unique ambiance of an authentic English Country Inn with a different warmer atmosphere than ordinary hotels. We have a number of comfortable bedrooms where the weary traveller can rest and enjoy a longer visit with us, waking up to a tasty breakfast to set you up for the day. Choose to dine either in our bar or restaurant. Our menu consists of traditional home cooked classics, or check out our evening specials board, which is full of exciting new dishes.

3. The Quarrymans Rest Bed & Breakfast Bampton (Devon)

This is an area well known for its hunting, fishing, shooting and is very popular with ramblers and cyclists. The Exmoor National Park is only 6 miles away and the beautiful beaches of North and South Devon is a 40 minute drive. With its comfortable sofas and welcoming log fires The Quarrymans Rest is a great place to visit. Serving traditional and innovative pub food, fine wines and real ales all at affordable prices. On Sundays our Carvery is hugely popular using local meats from Hills farm and Westons farm. With Donna overseeing the front of house, the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. Well kept real ale on the hand pumps as well as a weekly guest ale and a keen selection of wines from around the world to suit all tastes. She will happily open a bottle from the full wine list if you fancy a glass of something a little more special. Paul has a passion for the use of local food and creates some real pub classics to some more elaborate restaurant dishes all of which can be enjoyed either in the bar or in our comfortable restaurant. We have 3 great double rooms for bed and breakfast all are en-suite with flat screen televisions, Wi-Fi and tea and coffee facilities. Hotel Rating: AA 4 star
